I visited my sister in Los Angeles for five days. I think I started feeling symptoms that Monday on the flight back home. I felt a little scratchy in my throat and I had a headache but I figured my headache was due to traveling fatigue and the pressure on my ears from landing twice in one day.
Universal Studios and Vanice Beach had large crowds and it was nearly impossible to maintain six feet apart. But with a crowd that large I doubt six feet would make a difference in preventing COVID. LAX was also very packed.
At the end of the day I’m glad that I’m vaccinated to prevent getting the worst of COVID. So far I’ve only had a headache, coughing, cold chills, and hot flashes. One minute I’m sleeping with my house coat on and the next minute I’m sitting with a tank top on and sweating. Each day I feel better though.
I didn’t wear a mask on the plane or at any time in LA. I don’t regret it. I got vaccinated so I could feel comfortable without wearing a mask.
When someone gets COVID I know people wonder how preventative they were. Were they vaccinated? Did they wear a mask?
Some people feel like if you didn’t follow all of the preventative measures then you deserve COVID, but there are plenty of stories of people who were vaccinated and wore a mask and still caught COVID. From now on I’ll most likely wear a mask around large crowds because there’s a higher risk of spreading COVID.
At first I didn’t feel sick enough to think I had COVID. I honestly thought I just caught a bug. I only got tested because I have a baby and wanted to be sure. If it wasn’t for my wife and daughter I would’ve been taking DayQuil and kept it moving.
I still have a cruise to go on in July. An eight day cruise. Another event with large crowds. They may require guests to provide a Negative COVID test within two weeks of boarding, but people can easily catch COVID during the flights. Its definitely one of my theories to how I got it. But I’ll just wear my mask until I board the ship and hope for the best after that.
