I took two weeks of vacation from work. When I got back to the office I was told that I would have a PT test in two days. A PT tests is a physical fitness test that grades your ability to do pushups, situps, and a 2mile run. The Army standard is to always be ready for a PT test, but in reality no one really exercises on their leave. Leave is suppose to be a time when you forget about all things military. I was a bit nervous about taking my PT test because I did little exericse during my leave and I drank a lot of alcohol and ate a lot of junk food. Because I am good at PT and I always give it my all during regular PT hours I passed my PT test. I didn’t receive my top potential score but I passed and I got an impressive 13:57 2mile run time.
It is not often that soldiers are suprised with PT tests especially coming back from leave. Most PT tests are scheduled months ahead of time. But, this surprised PT reminded me of my Christian faith. How the Bible says to always be ready for the coming of Christ (Matthew 24:44), or whenever God calls you home individually. But we spend our lives engaged in selfish desires and purposely oblivious to the coming of Christ.
