When I watched Katt Williams interview with Shannon Sharpe, I thought there was some truth to Williams’ claims but I also thought he sounded like a big hater that Kevin Hart came after him and surpassed him in success.
But now I have a better understanding of what Williams was talking about when he said Kevin Hart is a Hollywood puppet. I saw how he is a yes man when he continued to laugh after Tony Hinchcliff made a tasteless George Floyd joke at Hart’s Netflix Roast.
When I look in the mirror I know I often fail to nip things in the bud at the moment, but I also don’t have the charisma and confidence of Hart who can command a stage of thousands of people. There’s no excuse for a man who can fire off jokes in a sold out arena to not be able to react in the moment. So I can only assume that Hart found the Geroge Floyd joke funny, or just didn’t want to ruffle the feathers because it might get him canceled.
Right Wingers and racists are arguing that you can’t be offended over the George Floyd joke but be cool with all the Charlie Kirk jokes. But nobody was cool with the Charlie Kirk jokes. It wasn’t any celebrity making a Charlie Kirk joke on a streaming platform. It was nothing but internet trolls making jokes.
And we all saw what happened to people who joked about Charlie Kirk’s death or said anything remotely negative about his life. People lost their jobs.
When people were arguing that George Floyd died from a drug overdose and that he had a criminal record, nobody lost their jobs. If anything it just boosted their public appearance. Candace Owens became more known by speaking negatively about George Floyd. While the White House went on a witch hunt for Charlie Kirk critics, and Kirk didn’t even hold a government position. He was just a glorified Right Wing influencer.
Kevin Hart took to Instagram to give praises to all the comedians who roasted him. He said that that is what a roast is, it’s no holds bar, you come with the heat…
We all have a right to decide what is offensive to us and what is not. And the Black community has spoken that nobody is safe when speaking on George Floyd’s name. Just as the White House stood on business when people were joking about Charlie Kirk.
Nobody can technically set a limit when it comes to jokes. You say what you want to say and deal with the consequences. That’s why famous comedians are famous, they said what they wanted to say and people found it funny. Just like the North Carolina rapper, DaBaby, said what he wanted about homosexual men, and got his future tour dates canceled.
So if Kevin Hart doesn’t want to defend George Floyd, then don’t. I just hope Kevin Hart thinks about the type of reputation he wants to leave behind. He’ll go down as one of the most successful comedians in history. But people won’t forget what he stood for when he got to the top. At least Katt Williams will go down in history as being solid. Choosing integrity over money and fame.
But as Stephen Jackson said, it’s all funny until it’s your family member who gets killed. I hope nothing dramatic ever happens to Kevin Hart’s family and close friends because I don’t wanna hear him say, “that’s not funny.”
