I’ve heard some people say that they don’t attend church because they don’t need a middle man (pastor) for them to have a relationship with God. They rather go straight to the source.
Now, I grew up in the church since a child and I’m still an active member of a church in my adult years. I have never heard a pastor say that they are the source to a relationship with God. And if anyone has ever attended a church where the pastor said that he is the source to a personal relationship with God, then you are responsible for leaving because that does not support the Word of God.
A pastor is a resource to gain a closer relationship with God. They are not the source. The source to a relationship with God is through Jesus Christ. Read 1 John 4: 1-6. Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.
So the pastor isn’t the middle man, but Jesus is. You cannot say you love God and deny Jesus Christ. And we should feel blessed to know that Jesus is the source to a relationship with God because no human can be in the presence of God and live because of our sin. If you want to go directly to the source then you’re going straight to hell because hell is the price to pay for sin.
Jesus came in the flesh to die for our sins, so we can have a relationship with God.
