Are the Kardashians Really That Bad?

When Michael B Jordan won an Oscar for Sinners, Kim Kardashian tweeted asking if Jordan was single. The comments flooded with people telling Kim to stay away from Jordan, to not ruin another Black man’s life.

See, there’s a thing called the Kardashian Curse, where people believe when a man enters a romantic relationship with a Kardashian, he will leave broken.

But after watching The Death and Life of Lamar Odom on Netflix, it brought a new light to what kind of wives the Kardashians are. Because Khloe Kardashian, at least by what was shown on screen, was a pretty good wife.

Most people looked at Lamar and Khloe’s marriage as a typical Hollywood publicity stunt given that Lamar played for the Lakers and Khloe had her reality TV shows, and that they got married after thirty days of knowing each other.

But Khloe did more than anyone would expect from a woman in that situation. She protected her husband’s image when she had every reason not to. She stood by him during his recovery from an overdose — one that happened at a brothel, while they were still married. She endured what most women would have used as an easy and logical exit.

Social media has blamed the Kardashians for the downfalls of the men around them like Kanye West’s antisemitic spiral. The perception that Kim derailed Reggie Bush’s career though his stats dropped long after they split, which says more about how badly a broken relationship can affect anyone than it does about Kim.

The Kardashians have consistently dated and married men who don’t need their wealth or their platform. There’s no record of a Kardashian demanding a massive divorce settlement. It was Kris Humphries who went after Kim for $7 million. Khloe had a prenuptial agreement with Lamar Odom that likely entitled her to spousal support but she voluntarily elected not to pursue it.

Despite the rumors of a curse, the evidence shows that if you marry a Kardashian, your life will only be ruined if you do it yourself.
