Weapons Review: Many Unanswered Questions

One thing I dislike about horror movies is their tendency to make me think. When watching a horror movie, my focus is on anticipating the next jump scare, leaving no time to decipher subliminal messages – which is precisely what Weapons expects from its viewers.

Weapons might have been more effective as a novel than a film. For a two-hour movie, it leaves many questions unanswered, which I won’t detail here to avoid spoilers.

However, I also appreciate that a movie doesn’t always require a clear resolution. The villains and answers don’t necessarily need to be obvious.

After researching the meaning behind Weapons, I discovered that Zach Cregger wrote this film as a response to his grief over the loss of a close friend.

Learning that this movie is more of a personal healing process than a project primarily designed for Hollywood profit, I understood that it wasn’t necessarily meant for me to fully grasp.

The trailer essentially includes all the scary moments from the movie. I watched a significant portion of it at 1.2x speed, waiting for something engaging to happen.
