Say 12 Million.

Every since Breonna Taylor’s death there have been signs, tshirts, and chants telling police officers, politicians, and anyone who thinks the police were justified in their shooting to “Say Her Name.“

But since the news came out that Taylor’s family will receive 12M dollars I have not seen anyone mentioning it, or thanking God for justice, or telling anyone to “Say 12 Million.”

Why? Because people merely wanted Taylor to receive justice by having the cops arrested but it’s jealousy to see her family prosper beyond their own measure. With 12M, Taylor’s family will no longer experience oppression and systemic racism. They gone move on up and no longer relate to the people who protested for Taylor’s death. I bet that bothered people.

  1. Thank you for provoking thought! However, I don’t agree. Many still just want the cops to be held accountable. Personally, I cannot see why would people be mad about them receiving the money they got? And even if they are, is it really jealousy (maybe it is, or maybe people felt they should decline and keep fighting)? Either way, a lot of this seems like generalization and assumption. Like, how do we know what her family plans to do with the money they received?
